7 Sites & Resources for the Entrepreneur

I decided to write a post spotlighting seven resources that I find to be useful for Entrepreneurs. If you are someone who works from home or has a solo operation, this is especially for you. Sole proprietors come in the form of many professionals who consult or work on a contract basis. So let's get to it!

  1. www.Entrepreneur.com -- not only does the site have great information to run your business, it is interactive as well. You can create a profile and post ads, read others posted materials, etc. You can subscribe to their newsletters and receive information on topics most relevant to you. They also have an active Facebook and Twitter presence that I feel adds value, instead of pushing unwanted products or services.
  2. www.Google.com -- Besides the unlimited storage in email and the business apps you can purchases for about $1 an app, there are other useful resources you can find in the Google family. Google Voice allows you to use a phone number of your choice for free with voice mail and so much more. You can also use their webmaster tools to analyze your search engine rankings and learn how to better position yourself online. The calendar is awesome as well and can sync everything if you are using an Android device.
  3. www.bit.ly -- When you are distributing your links online via Facebook, Twitter, and your blogs, press releases, and articles, you will need a way to track your clicks. Not only can you shorten your links and bundle them, you can also analyze your click-thru rate.
  4. www.BillingBoss.com -- This invoicing tool is very advanced for the free version. You can create recurring invoices, use your own logo, and much more. Invoices are sent out via PDF attachment and a unique link that the client can use to view the invoice in a browser.
  5. Keyword Question Tracker -- When you are writing articles and blogs, you want to use the verbiage and language that your target audience will be using. This handy tool allows you to put in a certain keyword or phrase, and it will return questions that relate to that keyword. Invaluable tool for copywriters.
  6. www.Meetup.com -- Here you can network with people in your field and find local places to meet with them. Even if you do not use it for business purposes, it is good for recreational use as well. Sometimes you must guard against over-working or not getting out, especially when you work from home. Create a profile and join groups. You can even be notified when they add new meetups similar to your interests.
  7. www.helpareporter.com -- If you are not aware yet, PR is very important and effective when it comes to marketing and spreading the word about your business. This site allows you to receive daily emails from journalists and blog writers looking for stories. Even if you only use it for ideas, it is worth the email. READ THEM!
